Vera Wenkert

Vera Wenkert is one of Europe’s top voice coaches. Her experience as a dramatic soprano on opera and concert stages spans 23 years.

Her passion for the voice has had her become one of the most sought after vocal teachers in Switzerland.  Teaching for 15 years Vera specialises in vocal technique and all areas of performance. Her acting classes are based on the Stanislawski method.  

Her teaching specialty is helping singers realise their full potential in an open, honest and nurturing environment. Her unique method is based on her vast personal experience as a performer and teacher. She has the ability to rehabilitate and develop every kind of singer with her unique perspective. As a dramatic soprano herself, she understands the dramatic voice and its unique requirements for development.

With all this in mind, in 2011 Vera founded the Institut StimmKunst.  With the creation of Institut StimmKunst she draws on all areas of her own experience of 23 years, preparing her students for future operatic careers. Her students are given a concise and and systematic approach to vocal training based upon the Swedish-Italian singing method. She has studied this with and is Assistant Teacher of David Jones, New York.

Her career as a dramatic soprano has had her sing more than 30 principal roles on opera stages in Trier, Kaiserslautern, Münster, Nürnberg and Zürich for example Katja Kabanova, Fidelio-Leonore, Madelaine (A.Chenier), Marie Wozzeck, Amelia (Un Ballo in Maschera), Leonora (La Forza del Destino), Abigaille (Nabucco), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Madama Butterfly and Turandot.

A Wagnerian specialist, Vera Wenkert has brought to life on the opera stages many of his heroines. The double role of Venus-Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Elsa (Lohengrin), Sieglinde, Senta, Brünnhilde and last but not least the Isolde in a concert version in New York.

From 2001 to 2011, she was a member of the jury for the final examinations of vocal students at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.

In 2019 she has been invited to the Bassi Brugnatelli International conducting and singing symposium, Italy as a coach and voice teacher.
